Deployment Bid: Writing BattleTech w/ Steven Toropov & Jason Hansa
Writing BattleTech Workshop
Event: Writing BattleTech – A Guided Workshop with Stephen Toropov & Jason Hansa Time: Saturday, September 19th | 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM
Location: Cove Cinema, 2nd Deck BB59
Hosts: Stephen Toropov & Jason Hansa (Catalyst Game Labs Authors)
Why We Need Your RSVP: This is an interactive, hands-on workshop led by official BattleTech authors. While seating is generally first-come, first-served, we require an RSVP to help us manage the Cove Cinema capacity and prepare necessary materials for the session.
Your response helps us determine:
- Material Prep: Ensuring we have enough notepads, pens, and printed reference guides on "Lore Integration" for every attendee.
- Room Layout: Arranging tables to facilitate writing exercises and small group feedback rather than just rows of chairs.
- Q&A Planning: Estimating the number of attendees who will want to ask specific questions about the submission process for official anthologies.
- Staffing: Ensuring hosts Stephen and Jason have adequate volunteer support for distributing materials and managing time during the live writing exercise.
Important Notes:
- No Seat Guarantee: RSVPing does not reserve a specific seat. This is a popular session for aspiring authors. Please arrive by 4:05 PM (10 minutes early) to secure a spot and get set up.
- Bring Your Own Gear: While we may have some extras, please bring your own notebook and pen if you have them. You will be writing and sharing snippets during the hour!
- Interactive Format: This is not just a lecture. You will be working on a short, guided writing prompt live during the session. No dice required—just your creativity and a willingness to share.
- Topics Covered: Lore integration without breaking continuity, capturing faction voices, world-building, and what editors look for in BattleTech fiction.
Mission Objective: Put pen to paper and learn the art of BattleTech storytelling from the source. Sign up now so we can make sure the cinema is ready for your creative journey, and remember to get there early to grab a seat and your stationery!
